Concrete garage floor paint is sort of an oxymoron. It is not really a paint job; it is more like a coating. The paint goes on your home, on the exterior and interior. There are products designed for a concrete garage floor. They come in a kit and they may say something like thin-mil waterborne basecoat from epoxy. Waterborne is nice because this means it is not hazardous to your health or any pets. It does not mean you should pour it into your corn flakes but it does mean that you will not fall out instantly if you take the lid off of the container. This can be used on concrete garage floors and a concrete block garage. This product can be used on a basement concrete setting as well.
You need to etch the pavement or concrete with a solution. This is usually called etch n’ clean. Then wait for the concrete to fully dry before you put the epoxy basecoat down. Just a small amount of color flakes is needed on the pavement mixed into the epoxy. This concrete garage floor coating should be authorized to sit. Again, this is not concrete garage paint. The last chapter in this book is to run a layer of clear solution down, which is sort of like a concrete garage sealer.
This next product is similar and is intended for the concrete garage pad or pavement. This package was created for extra toughness for your concrete garage foundation. That is right; you have to etch the concrete with the same type of liquid. It is one gallon of this liquid mixed with one gallon of hot water. You are preparing to protect your garage floor but not applying concrete garage floor paint. This is not concrete garage paint but a chemical mixture that will insure your pavement lasts for years even if all sorts of store bought products are spilled on it, including oil and grime from your car. This hot water concoction needs to be allowed to completely evaporate from the concrete garage slab.
This is sort of like a primer coat, which should slip in between the pavement’s substrate that will pave the way for the next episode. The next hurdle is to lay down some epoxy, which is the basecoat, not known as concrete garage paint. This should mount extremely well because the primer coat has led a successful charge and is waiting to bond with its cousin, the basecoat. This should be an even amount all over the garage floor. Remember, the basecoat needs to be mixed up with some shaded chips. Sleep on it, stay off of the garage pavement for about 12 hours. Do not allow your cat inside the garage during this time. The following morning, you should be good to go to clear coat. Your garage pavement will thank you later.
